GTX 1054 oil leak

bought this in 2010 , 11 hard seasons and just didnt want to have to rely on it for another year so i bought a ST 54 and started fixing the GTX 1054 up thinking i would useit without a mower deck for tool caeting and small jobs where the tractor isnt necessary

put new starter , battery , plugs , air filter kit , oil change , new zerks , drive belt , idler pullies

knew it had a oil leak developing but honestly thought it was the seal on the filter , and it was negligible so i wasnt over concerned

there was no oil on the old belt , i dropped the PTO and the drive pully to install the new belt and no oil on the drive pully or shaft either so not a seal i do not believe however the oil is pooling on top of the PTO pully

after the oil change i pressure washed it inside out and underneath , i let it set a day and there was fresh oil pooled on top of the PTO pully again , not the oil filter still plenty on te dip stick so its still not gushing it but i cant figure out where its coming from

sound familiar to anyone?

I've seen this a few times.
Check the plastic oil drain is screwed into the block nice and tite.
Only other place is the bottom crank seal.

ok thank you for the reply , so you are thinking its not the drain cap that maybe its the extension tube for the drain itself that may have worked loose , that would be great , that never occurred to me , i had just ensured the cap and filter were not leaking

as for the crank seal im very certain i would have had oil all over the drive belt and the drive pully when i installed the new belt (old one was cracking) , the shaft was bone dry

you made me feel better by giving me a new thing to look for , i was worried i had a cracked case or something , but its a very strong 27 HP Koehler so im not leaning that way hence the baffled part

will keep you updated

Those are notorious for leaking. I normally sell folks a length of galvanized pipe with a 90 and a plug.

Well, I finally got a chance to have another look. The pooling HAS STOPPED. None on the pulley, none on the floor, and oil level correct on the stick. I am perplexed to say the least.

The PTO pulley where the oil was pooling on top of, was bone dry.

I'm at a loss.
