Starter removal WG600 engine, in a 2182 ?
I took the 2 bolts out and it hits a steel plate that won't let it out. The plate had 2 engine mount bumpers, which I removed. The plate seems like a major pain to remove, but don't see any other way.
Any suggestion's would be greatly appreciated. |

so I never thought to do it way back when. I do remember sitting there what seemed like for days thinking, cussing out loud, and the neighbors probably thinking I have anger management issues, which all mentioned is true. :biggrin2: That being said, I think and thought at the time, that you had to at least undo the engine, and lift it up and out a bit to get that starter out. I said out loud, F THAT! and grabbed a Sawsall and cut the corner of the block/ piece of something off? Can't remember what piece of what but. Now I can change the starter in about 5 min or less. Was it right, no, but it never presented a problem for the past 15 years or so, so... :GoodLuck: You know, I never did look it up, prob will now just to see what others have done/do. :bigthink::beerchug: |
Thanks Brian S.
I'm going to try to cut that plate to remove it. |
Update! Did not cut the plate. Instead, hoisted engine up about 4-5 inches on the starter side, took out 3 of the 4 bolts holding the plate to the engine, loosened the 4th bolt (the one you can't easily get to, lower left I think) and the starter almost fell out.
Pretty bad design, in my opinion, but defiantly solid metal to work with. FYI |
