Spindles
 

One of my spindles is trashed. The threads to hold the pulley on are stripped out. My question is what was the spindle part number before the use of the 745. The deck is a 422U1113. I was told the bearings were pre 745 with this deck.

IF, you want to go backwards to the previous style of spindle bearing assembly, by the time you buy the spindle, bearings, spacers, seals, and housing you will spend $300-$400 by the time you get an old assembly ready. You can spend $80.00 for a ST-745 Bearings and be way ahead.

I was told doesn't have the 745....the bearings are way cheaper...like 20$ for the tapper tho ..how will I spend more? I need the actual shaft for the old style for one spindle because threads are chewed up and the pully is gone ...does anyone have the pn for this style

It is only practical if the races aren't pitted. Just a matter of replacing the balls and seals. And it's time-consuming. Who has that kind of time these days?

Edit: Full disclosure, today I disassembled a set of these that were nearly seized and the races were too pitted to salvage. If they still spin but are noisy I might bother to replace the ball bearings. I did rebuild one set that now roll pretty smoothly.

Also the plastic ball cages can be pulled out with a bent wire but if the cages are metal you'll have to pry them out with a screw driver and bend them back into shape if you decide to reinstall them.

Well it turns out it had the 745 Bearings. I did the one and realized the other putter is pretty sloppy. It's getting done soon. The center one isn't bad at all though. I figure it has less horizontal load and will outlast the outers.
