I used the pneumatic bidet (compressed air).

Ordered some new BUNGS from CC parts.

How does the filter look?
Gonna replace all the lines as well??

Both filters look good (the one before the lift pump and the canister) but I ordered a new tank petcock/screen assembly as THIS one had no screen (though I suspect it should have, for just this reason), and some new BUNGS. I replaced the canister filter last year. Thankfully none of this gook got through but jammed up the tank valve.

Lines were clean... blew air through , and nothing but clean diesel came out. I'll order all new lines and redo them as they are getting kind of inflexible.

Anyone use diesel treatment to avoid these things, or is is snake oil?

What you have is algae in the diesel fuel. Algae loves to hide in the pores of a poly fuel tank. What I did to kill the algae in my fuel tank on my 782D was to clean fuel tank than I added about a gallon of gas. I then shook the fuel for a few minutes. Drain the gas and blow out the tank till it was dry. Replace all the rubber fuel lines.
My 782D has been algae free now for two years.
Good luck!

I've had good results killing algae in diesel fuel systems with Power Service 'Bio Kleen'.
