1450 overheats.
 

Got a 1450 with a 14hp Kohler. After running for about 15 min, the engine loses power. When I cut the PTO, and bring it down to idle, it runs fine, engage the PTO, and try to mow again, it lugs out again within a minute.

Any suggestions?

I bought a 12 hp that did that. Head was warped, gasket blown, and it was out of time. I think the timing was the initial problem and the PO let it go until the head warped. Check for mouse nests in the engine too.

Your title states "Overheats" yet your description makes no mention of it. With that in mind, could be a Fuel Delivery problem, ie: Carb, plugged vent cap, dirt in the tank, etc.

My 1650 done the same thing last weekend. It would run fine untill the blades where turned on and then the motor would bog down. Turned out to be the points had loosened up and there was barely any gap between them. Reset the gap to .020" and everything was fine.
