An "Interesting" Accessory..."Any Thoughts?"
Had this advertisement come across our Facebook page a couple days ago and thought I would share. I understand the concept and application but not so sure I trust the mechanics of it all. I know MTD does something similar to this starting with the 1000/1500 series back in late 90s/early 2000s to try to make oil changes easier. I still am a fan of the magnet drain plug though.
Enjoy...but don't come yelling at me when the lever gets turned and you run your machine out of oil and lock it up. :Snooty: http://www.ezoildrain.com/ |
The lever has a lock on it. You have to either lift or press on it (I don't recall which) to get it to twist. It won't "accidentally" come open. Lots of equipment has them on it. It's a nice accessory for the hard to reach plugs.
Any good operator would notice oil pouring out of a motor anyway...... :biggrin2: |
Looks like it has a spring loaded lock to keep it from accidentally opening, still not sure I would trust it.

I actually like this idea, not that draining engine oil is that hard anyway. But as a convenience item, I'd give it a go.
|
The box store tractors come with an "easy-drain" plug and it's the worst thing to deal with. I like what Chevy did with my Cruze...the drain plug is hollow, so all I have to do is loosen it and out comes the oil.
|
IMO if I had an equipment company that required oil changes due to the frequency of use/high hours, I'd try it.

Jonathan, your response cracked me up. Working with the public as you currently do, and like I did at a dealership for a while, has probably taught us both never to assume someone is doing the right thing or everyone is an "aware or good operator."
