Remote grease fittings
 

Wanted to put a remote grease fitting on one of my tractors like mjsoldcub did here on his 1250;

McMaster has the same thing for $41.

You could go to McMaster Carr and piece it together. They have bulkhead fittings, grease fittings, grease hose, adapters..... It's actually a little less to piece it together. I would use plastic air line (available at most part stores) and use compression fittings to connect it. The air line is rated at pretty high pressures. Not that greasing the gear box uses high pressure. It's not too difficult a thing to make really.

I’m guessin that the grease fitting in the steering box is a threaded, 1/8 NPT. So,..

2, 5 packs of Miniature Brass Barbed Tube Fittings (McMaster-Carr part # 5454K65) should be enough to do the 4 tractors that I have;

I would need 2 of the two packs of the Through-Wall Couplings (McMaster-Carr part # 5454K86) ;

If I wanted the chrome look I could go with the same fitting in chrome plated brass, (McMaster-Carr part # 5483T92) for a couple dollars more.

The Tygon tubing is very attractive price wise but as it only has a max pressure rating of 85 psi I think the Crack-Resistant PFA Clear Tubing for Chemicals (McMaster-Carr part # 52705K32) would be a better choice;

I should be able to reuse the zerk, or for the shiny look add a few stainless ones (McMaster-Carr part # 1293K11).

Most of the Cub Cadet zirks are "press in" you're probably going to have to tap all the holes.

Just a quick follow up on this;

-Looks like the zerk is a press in type so yes Yosemite Sam, I will be taping the steering box.

-The Miniature Brass Barbed Tube Fittings that I got from M-C came with a really nice ferule with female threads so no need for the pinch clamps! :beerchug:

That's not a ferule.... it's a threaded clamp. A ferule gets crushed.

That's cool it came with that though. It should hold better pressure that way. :beerchug:
