Working on the 1572 #2
3 Attachment(s)
Started Work on The 1572 #2. Put new CV joint drive shaft, Rear brace. Found A crack in the frame :bash2:.
|
Good job! Hope you can get the frame repaired easily.

Good catch on the crack. You should be able to V that out and weld it. The brace should also help prevent future problems. Looks like the crack started at the point that the lip on the bottom that is bent inwards stops on the frame.

Looking good :beerchug:

Did a little more thinking about the cracked frame. You could use a piece of 1/4" flat bar stock drilled for the 4 bolt holes in this pic and weld it to the front mount for the brace kit. I outlined the area that I would reinforce in red and the place I'd weld in green.

Looking great, real nice work.

Thanks ever one. I have A guy come look at it to see if he can weld It .
|
Looking good Jason. Might want to do as Sam suggested but looks like horizontal crack too. Always a good idea to drill a hole at the ends of the crack, v it, and then do the welding.
|
As just suggested I would also drill a small hole at both ends of the crack before welding it. We had to do that when the frames would get cracks on our helicopters in the Marines.
