Wix 51410 hydro filter

I replaced the gasket between the hydro and the rear on the 169 and it went well. I then tried to change the hydro filter with a Wix 51410 and the threads are different. I had two and tried them both. :bash2:I had to put the used one back on until I get a new from Cub. Has anyone used a Wix for the hydro?

That's the one I used on my 982 without any issue?

I've got one on my 782.

I have a Fram I think on my 127... I have a question for everyone with leaks.. is it ok to use it while you are waiting on the gaskets? Mine leaks about 3-5 tbsp at most over a week period... I was thinking of topping off an mowing tonight.. needs it quite bad...

thanks

also, any value to a write up of changing these gaskets? Pictorial?

You should be fine.

labrati-

I'd get rid of that Fram filter ASAP...it's not a hydraulic filter, it's an oil filter. You can keep using it while you're waiting on gaskets though.

Fram makes one of the cheapest filters you can buy, I never use Fram for anything.

Yeah, I noticed it the other day when I was looking for the leak... I'm a Mobile1 guy in our cars... what's best for the hydro? is there a >2micron that fits it?

ihnick 05-03-2010 09:40 PM

why wouldnt the oil filter work? just curious?

The bypass valve in the bottom of the filter is different, I believe. Also micro size may differ.
