582 question

Is there any known problems with the transmission in a 582? Are they a cast iron version of what is in a 1050? Going next week to look at a future project if I get paid for a couple of jobs I am working on.

the rear end will look just like the ones in the older gear drive cub, not sure what the 1050 rear end looks like.

1050 is alum case with outboard disc brakes. I should also say it is 582 not 582 special.

Have not been to look at it yet. Just knew they were three speeds and was wondering if they were the same. I forgot they had wet brakes.

They were built with both types depending on the year. Are you looking at the one in East Ridge? If so, that one has the CI rear.

That is the one. Just need to find time to get down there. Actually looking at another brand tractor as well. It is going to be a repower project if everything works out. The engine is part payment for some work I am doing. Perkins 2 cylinder 14 hp diesel. I took some measurements from my 1811 and it should fit. Might just put the engine back until later but saw the 582 pretty cheap. The other one is a freebie so that is even better.
