1440 with a 190-353-100
Hey Guys!
I'm new here as I just recently picked up a 1440 Cub Cadet garden tractor! I have done a bit or research on snow blowers / throwers that will fit it and it appears that only a 451 or a 551 will fit that unit. That said, I saw this model on Craigs List (190-353-100) and the seller swears that it will fit on my 1440 and run fine. Does anyone here have any experience of this unit fitting on a 1440? Any advice would be appreciated! I can get photos if needed. In general, the 190-353-100 looks to be a bit lighter than the 451 and 551 units. I am in Vermont and plan to use this unit to blow my driveway. Nothing else. Probably about 1,200 sq ft. Thanks! When I get a moment, I'll be sure to get some photos of my tractor up here! Jay |
First off welcome to OCC. I just looked at the cub parts site and the 190-353-100 snow blower is PTO shaft driven. I don't think you can make it work on a 1440. The correct blower would be the 451 or 551 with the belt drive. I am pretty sure the 353 blower is made for the 3000 series tractor with the shaft driven PTO. Tell the 353 seller he should do a little research cuz he is full of poop.:bigthink:

Thanks for the responses guys. It does look like this thing is shaft driven off a pulley. Here's a crappy photo that shows some details. Sounds like I'm outta' luck though. I'll keep searching for that 451 or 551.

Just tossing this out for consideration, you may want to think about a plow. The blower is HEAVY and without hydraulic lift you may find it to be a serious workout for the right arm. Back in the day when I lived in New England I had a plow on a 1210 (very similar to a 1440) and a walk behind blower. |
Hi Sam-
I have thought about a blade but I think I would run out of room quick unless I had a snow thrower of some type. Also, my drive way is not paved and somewhat rutted. I imagine that would make the blade a bit challenging to use. I was hoping to put on some type of hydraulic assist if I do end up finding the proper blower attachment. I haven't researched that yet but would imagine there must be something out there that would fit... Thanks for you thoughts. I appreciate it! Jay |
I don't know what model# that unit is in the pic but I can look at pics of a 353 unit in parts tree and see it is not the same. That appears to be a snow thrower. It might possibly be a haban unit. The way the pulley is arranged it might work on the 1440. Better pics would help. Any pics of the front view by chance?:bigthink: I just looked at the craigslist add and it appears to be a Haban snow thrower. It might possibly work on the 1440 being it was meant for wide frame tractors. I have never seen a single stage unit on a cyclops style tractor. Maybe someone else will chime in. Sam the man what do you think?

...And the plot thickens! :bigthink:
The guys swears it will fit a 1440. Another one of my concerns is that even if it fits, do I have to be concerned with the RPMs making sense? You know...that thrower spinning too slow or fast? Anyhow, if I end up getting the green light here that it will fit, I will be sure to document how it all works out for folks in this situation in the future! Thanks! Jay |
I wish I had an answer for you. Better pics would help. For all I know it may be the proper thrower for a 1440. Guess you could take your tractor to the sellers place and have him prove that it fits and works.
