1641 charging issue?
The amp light on my tractor comes on whenever I engage the PTO. Also comes on intermittently while driving without the PTO engaged.
New battery. Should I suspect the charging system or a short? Something else? Thanks. Jbo |
I would suggest to put your volt meter on the battery and check voltage @ idle and full throttle which should tell you the status of your charging system.
With engine off you should have about 12.6 V if fully charged battery and it has been sitting a day, as the rpm's increase it should put out a max of about 14V or so. Switching on a load as in headlights or PTO voltage will drop but should still stay above about 12.5 This is general for most charging systems. |
Thanks. Will check as suggested.

The voltage light is a very common issue. As George suggested check it with a meter and if it's OK take the bulb out of the indicator. I replace the lights on my tractors with gauges.
