Input pinion 108

I am having my input pinion shaft repaired because it was wobbled out. I brought it to a friend that has a lath. He is going to weld the hole shut, then turn it back down to 5/8" in his lath. wondering when he redrills the hole what size is it supposed to be from factory.
Also he is going to machine a new coupler. Also need to know what size the holes need to be for the coil springs m

I do believe it's 1/4 inch for the holes. If im wrong somebody will chime in and I'll need to weld and redrill mine

Here's one I just repair for a member here.

This one the hole was worn both out of round and also had over 20* rotational movement. Plus the end was worn down to .618

I did the weld repair and then indicated it in on my 4 jaw chuck with in a few tenths of a thousand. Concentricity is extremely important when dealing with gears. " Looks good" isn't good enough.

Edit,
I can weld, turn and drill the hole for $30

Jeff,
Just curious, how much do you get to do this type of repair? I have a few that need attention.
Thank you,
Mike

I can fix them for $30. Since you have a few, a could offer a discount if they are sent at the same time.

Jeff
