Don't Forget To Check The Air Filter...

Hey all!

I haven't been here in a while, but the 1641's been running pretty good. had it stored for a little over a month. I put the snow plow on it Monday, and we had our first little snow, here in Northern Ohio overnight. I cleared my driveway, the neighbor's and my sisters. Toward the end it started hiccuping, and sputtering, and I would just adjust the throttle a bit. I started it back up this morning, and it was much worse. I had two spark plugs, and mine looked pretty bad, so changed them. It seemed a little better. Couldn't figure it out. I know my choke cable is broken, but it's never been a huge problem. Just have to open the top and push it back in. Well, the cable is seized completely, and the choke was partially open. I pushed it back in all the way, and she was running good. I thought all was well. A couple minutes later, hiccuping again.

Then I went to look at the carb. when i pulled the air filter off, it pretty much cleared up. I put it back on, searching, sputtering etc... so I took the air filter off, and cleaned the driveway. Runs like a champ. :bash: She just need some air! Now, to the store this evening for the new filter...

Stop off and grab a choke cable while you're out, too! Something so simple and cheap shouldn't be put off :beerchug:

Any chance you got some moisture in your air filter element and it froze (especially overnight) and stopped up your filter?

It is possible. I tried to clean it a little, but it was pretty filthy. Can't seem to find a choke cable nearby... Anyone know where I can order one? It's a '92 1641.

Any parts store...... They all keep choke cables on the shelf.

You can order one at any Cub Cadet dealer, or from the sponsors up top, CCC directly, partstree.com........
