How does the keeper on the hyd. valve linkage come off? I can't get to the u clamps holding the back plate on the steering column without taking the valve loose first. I'm taking the steering column off to repair or replace it.

it works like a master link in a go cart chain. you either push it up or down and it slide's out of the pin grooves. then you can slide it out

That's what I thought but its got a solid link on both sides and it don't slide. Can I tear it off and use c clips?

you can see the slots of the master link in the photo .

Closer view. There isn't any way to move it.

The thinner external piece with the grooves in it looks to slide down. Throw som PB on it and it should move, then remove the thicker piece and slide link out. The top of the thin piece is slit

Ok, I'll spray it and look at it again in the morning.

Kieth,

It is split in the middle at the bottom. Pry it out and over to release the bottom, then shove it up to get the top. See pic. Make sense?
