Cub 127 won't charge
My Cub Cadet 127 that I every nut and bolt restored, wont charge. It has new wiring and I did the OCC charge test. I touched the Bat and Gen terminals on the volt reg and it went to discharge on the amp gauge and still won't charge. Then I took a piece of wire and went from the F post and grounded to the frame. Engine bogged slightly I think. Still no charge. Any ideas ? Also I think the V/R is missing the bottom bolt could that be a problem. I am stuck. Any thoughts.

Are you looking at the charge meter on the tractor or a volt meter? Grounding f terminal normally yields 15 or more volts output and takes control wiring and v/r out of the equation when doing this test. Engine bogging sounds like s/g is working but is gauge not moving? Is your v/r grounded well? Put the other bolt in just because but not thinking that's your issue
Look here to verify your wiring http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=35 |
there are a lot of variabbbbbles,
clean the S/G bracket to motor. Clean S/G bracket to S/G where the white ground wire attaches to. Clean V/R bracket to grill housing. Clean V/R mounting tabs to bracket. Verify that the ground wire on the V/R is still attached to the V/R base and attach white ground wire to that location. Still no charge? Let us know |
In addition to what the other guys have said, one of the two mounting holes should have a ground wire attached to it and the V/R, if the bottom tab on the V/R is the one that has the v/r ground wire attached to it then that could be the problem.
Put the bolt in and see what happens. |

I touched the bat and gen tabs on the regulator and it sparked and when all the way to discharge on amp gauge. 5. No wire is on my L tab on my volt reg. 6. I need some help bad |

Unless you understand what is going on inside a regulator, no reason to take off the cover...... just lots of coils and wires doing their job. I have fixed a few, but usually just replace them. Yeah, they're pricey, but they usually last a long time. |
I know how vr s work its i dont know what I touched
