Will my 682 run again?

Here is my 682. The serial # is 2050593U670261. I have owned it for about 16 years and have worked on it a lot over the years. But I can't get it running now. An old man once told that with these engines there are 3 things that make them run: FIRE, AIR, AND GAS (FAG). I had major surgery one me a couple years ago and have not worked on it. So now I can't remember what I used to know (getting old like my Cub). I need to go through a sequence of checking for fire, and to check the coil also. I used to put a test light on the points and get a break and set them on 0.20 and did fine--never fooled with trying to time it other wise. If anyone could give me a proper sequence to go through to check the fire gas and air I would appreciate. I have restored a 1650 before and could always get them running. Here a couple pictures from a couple years ago and one today of the kt 17 engine for checking if it is a series I or II engine.
Thanks I will try to send more pictures later....

This picture is a couple years old. I sold the 1650. It's the one I restored at one time. I had it about 19 yrs.

Looks like a series 1 to me. I'd start with installing the gas tank.

Did you clean or file the points?
Start there then clean out the carburetor

The KT-17 Series II wasn't used until chassis serial number 724,125.

The lack of an elongated oil filler tube is also what led me to believe it was a series 1, correct?
