Moving lift bar assembly from 1250 to 129 question
 

Found some info on this, but trying to double check my plans. My 1250 is put away and all buttoned up (and it's freezing!) or I would check this myself. My plan is to pull the lift bar and lift lever off the 1250 manual lift and put it on my 129 hydro lift, it looks like the part numbers are the same. I want to leave the spring assist on the 1250. My ultimate goal is to set up a 3 pt hitch for trailers. I also wonder how much tongue weight a cub set up like this can handle? Do you need any spring assist with the hydro lift? I always find the stock ball mount is so low I can't use the trailer jack.

I have no idea what you are trying to do...???? If you take the manual lift lever off one tractor and put it on one with hydraulic lift.... you wouldn't have hydraulic lift anymore. Are you talking about transferring the cub cadet 3pt (sleeve hitch) over to another tractor? If that is what you mean, I think you will find that it won't gain you much hitch height. If you are just wanting it to move trailers, you'd be time ahead to just make a custom hitch on the back.

Sorry I thought I had the names right - I am trying to take this stuff out of the 1250 where it hooks up to the manual lift and put it on a 129 which has hydro lift. the 1250 also has the spring assist on the left side of the frame and I would like to leave that on the 1250 (partly cause the bolt is frozen in the spring

Hydraulic lift does not need a spring assist.

Regardless of your ultimate goal, I too would rather have the 3 point on the tractor with the hydraulic lift.

The 3 point will bolt right up to your 129 from the 1250, there is the possibility that your 1250 will not have part number 1 from your illustration but will have parts number 8 instead. If that is the case you will need to acquire a part number 1 (easy to make).

Hydraulic lift will not need the spring assist, best left on the 1250.

Some time ago I made an adjustable adapter for a ball because of the same problem you are having. I built it to connect directly to a sleeve hitch adapter, so that it was easy to move from one tractor to another or remove altogether. It does the job it was intended to do but is not rigid to the tractor (it wiggles around a little) the only trailers I ever needed to move with it are fairly light so I never feared any mishaps.

Thanks for the info. When it warms up a bit I'll have to pull the 1250 out and steal the lift parts. I will consider it a success if I can hook up my utility trailer or rowboat trailer but I will be trying it on some heavier stuff too. I store boats in my barn that are shoehorned in and the cub (if it can handle the tongue weight) would be nice for manuveuring. Might need wheelie bars next!

It was finally warm enough to pull the parts off the 1250. You are correct they all fit and the 1250 had the frankenbolts so I will need a shaft. I did notice the bushing in the frame, that the shaft would ride in, is not welded in heavily. It doesn't look like it would be that hard to get out. The hole in the frame is the right size for the frenken bolts - if the bushing comes out. I might give that a shot, the frame is sitting on blocks right now and going to be painted anyway
