782 Starting issue
Hello well the 782 is acting up and I'm a little puzzled. The switch works (I think)
the pto clicked when I turned the key, and the I tried bypassing the brake safety switch and it did nothing. I ran a jumper wire from the battery to the starter and turned the switch and it started instantly and ran fine for 10 minutes and stopped and I tried the switch and it did nothing. I checked the fuses and they were not blown. My question is where else should I check? Thanks for any help. |
I just turned on the PTO to see if the switch was functioning I turned the PTO off to try cranking it.

I use the one 719999 and under

I need to get some sleep before asking questions, I'm so tired I didn't think about the solenoid
|
So.... you basically jumped the starter? Didn't it crank as soon as the wire touched the starter? ....... Then it ran a bit and died?
|
yes that is what it did, I cranked it and it ran 10 minutes and stopped I turned the switch (without the pto on) and it did nothing, maybe it's the solenoid
|
Check the usual (grease and grime at the solenoid connection) ... you can also try 12V directly to the solenoid terminal and see if that makes it crank
