How hard is it to change out the wear bottoms?
|
The wear button just fits in the hole in the clutch pressure arm. pop the old one out, press the new one in. Easy.
|

Sounds like it. I have the same worn out thrust button on my 71, so I'll have to replace mine one day. Other than that I know for fact my pto is good. You can buy the part separately from a pto rebuild kit. I dug up a thread you might read. Hopefully until then someone can offer better help and know how. I found a ton of info, starts to jam up my head.

yea my pto works grate never skips a beet

my dad welded a bearing on the spot wear the button goes on hasn't failed yet and been on there since the 90's, ill have to get pics was pretty smart thing to do cause those buttons kind of suck

Show me some pics please? I've been thinking on the same lines of some kind of bearing would be nice, like a clamp the outside of a tapered roller bearing and have the PTO center pin/button push on the inner part of the bearing. A setup like that would surely put a hurt on fiber button and PTO rebuild kit sales. :bigthink:
