1650 cooling fan

Has anybody ever used a metal cooling fan for the hydro like on the 123s for a quietline. Or would it even work I uavnt looked to much into it I just thought it might be a little more resistant to breakage. The one on my 1650 now is broken so I have to.swap it.eather way I also have both the plastic one and a metal laying here. What are your opinions

I know it's not quite the same but at least one of my 149's has the metal fan.

I'll probably end up giving it a shot. I just didn't know if it would push enough air to keep it cool while mowing. Any other ideas?

i need to replace my fan too. the last time i had the tunnel off there was a blade missing. the plastic seems very brittle. i do not know if the new ones are brittle or the plastic has just aged. i would say mine is the original, so if a new plastic one lasts 30+ years ill be ok.

Why are they breaking? What are they hitting? You're Hydraulic Lift Linkage? With the cover off the drive shaft, engine running, ( be careful ) work your lift lever and watch your cylinder and its linkage move. There's a part that hindges before it actually starts to lift your deck. (float) It can be locked in a streight position by moving the pin into the other hole.. I broke a brand new fan myself, thought I had it back far enough on the shaft but that hydro lift caught it , GONE! ( BE CAREFUL ) That cover is on there for a reason!!!!! The next new fan I bought I took a 1/4 inch off the tip of each blade with the bench grinder for clearence. Good Luck ! ( this was on my 149 )
