Quietline repower
Has anyone done a quietline repower that keeps the tins and ideally the front pto?

I sent a PM. Thanks , Darrell

What are you thinking in terms of a repower, a twin cylinder or something else?
Sounds like an interesting thread. Good luck, Bill |
Not a single cyl. Something 25 hp or less to stay within the hydro design limit.

i am also interested in doing the same thing. I'm building a quietline to be on snow thrower duty and the extra hp could be handy once in a while.

I am wanting to use mine as a mini tractor, and I know I have a rebuild coming up (pretty severe oil leak/ oil burning) I am just looking to see if anyone has done any of the legwork I would have to if I were to repower with more power. Probably the biggest reason for wanting a repower is to kill as much of the vibration as possible.

Just my 2 cents. Seems a guy could do all of the noise isolation and get a good rebuild for a whole lot less bread than stuffing a non stock engine into a Quietline. I would think it would be tough to find a V-twin that would fit in the engine bay with side panels as is. That series of tractors was designed with a Kohler single in mind. Just think of the Cub Cadets that proceeded the Quietlines. Any of the twins had a larger hood and engine bay.
I do not know if this is even a consideration but, a K-361 is an 18hp single that would fit with minor hood modification at most if the overhead valves stick up too high. Get a new set of Iso Mounts and a good K-361 and you would have something. My 1450 was a rattler when I bought it. After some casual and enjoyable fiddling it purrs now. |
You nailed it bushman.:beerchug:

I dont feel that the k-341 makes too much noise, I like the look of the quietline with the side panels on. I like stock stuff, but I also like things nicely modified with a "factory" appearance. In this case, I would ideally like the look of the quietline but with 20+hp, and starting with less vibration than the k series. I replaced the iso mounts and did the cradle mod on my 1650 and it made a tremendous difference from how i received it, but the engine now needs a rebuild. I am exploring options and kicking tires. just want to see if someone else has done it and how.

These guys sell a re-power kit but the side tins won't fit and the fuel tank is also an issue.
