1650 with 450 Blower

Here is a picture of one of my "works in progress". I have way too many projects going at the same time... I just got the blower fitted up. Lifts about 4-5" after a little modification. Now on to the drive situation. I'd be all set if I could just swap the pulley from an 82 series to mine, but the centerline of the pulley is about 1-1.5" back from where it needs to be so the belt rides straight. Anyone have any ideas? :bigthink:I have a couple, but I don't want to kill the brainstorming by telling mine yet. We'll see how the 16hp handles the blower when it's all done. Needs power steering though.... Either that or I need to just throw on a pair of gloves and man up...lol. I'll get a clearer pic up when it's daytime and I can get a better shot.

It's alive!

I can't believe it, but it actually worked without any modification to the drive system. Not quite sure why I didn't take the time to work with it a couple weeks ago. Once I made a slight lift bracket modification and got it to lift correctly, I put a shorter belt on it and it blew snow like crazy. The belt rides a little high in the stock pto pulley, but it didn't throw it. I'll post a pic of it when I try it tomorrow or saturday.

im interested in how that belt holds up. i am thinking about copying you for next winter and putting a 450 on MY 1650! so you just used the stock pto and the wider belt for the 450 blower fit good and doesnt slip at all?

thats just what i wanted to here.

I'm undergoing that project right now

I solved the PTO problem by using an 82 series PTO with the "base plate" re-drilled to match the block mounting points. I have yet to mount the actual thrower. Could you provide me with the exact locations for the holes(measurements) in the frame that you drilled? It will same me a lot of fiddling around. As you know, it is not the lightest implement that Cub Cadet made.

Thanks :bigthink:

I'm going for the "man up" option. :biggrin2: Looks great. :beerchug:

I just got my cab back from the local Amish guy. I was missing one door, and he made me all four sides for $150... YAHOO! Now to get the wiper going and the electric chute rotator... Chains need to be installed too.
