Tiller pushing

I mounted a cub tiller with a 8 hp engine with 3 point hich to my 782 and it pushes it, The tractor will not maintain an even speed, it speeds up I have to slow it down. I would like to get it maintain a constant speed,

How hard is the soil?
Does it push more on first pass?
How deep are going on first pass?
Turfs or ag tires on the rear?

It does it in my garden and when breaking fresh turf

How fast is the engine on the tiller running?

how much ballast do you have on the tractor? You're breaking fresh ground with the tiller? Around here everyone I've ever known has plowed 1st, tilled 2nd....

With a Hydro you are going to get the inherent "Push" that is why alot of users have gear drives for this type of application... I used a 1650 with a tiller that had both extensions and in hard ground it pushed also....Just learn how to work between forward speed and depth as you go for the first couple of paths as it gets much easier as you go....Also take a shallow swipe the first time out.... Lift as you get near the end so it is a smooth transition in and out of the garden....

Are the Tine's on the correct way? I had a neighbor that always complained his tiller never worked good an always wanted to take off, one day when he was fighting it I walked over and noticed his was on wrong. Never complained after that
