drive line mod questions

when i was plowing with the 169 the other day, the front pin that slides into the hub on the motor broke off. the hub has alot of play in it from the pin.

im wondering if theres a better stronger way to beef up the drive line on my 169. this is my main work horse and plow tractor so i want it to be strong. ive heard of some guys converting there 1X9 series tractors to the quietline set up with a rag joint in the front and back. is this stronger? if it is, can you just take the parts out of a quietline and bolt them into the 169? give me some ideas guys. thanks

Nick you can use a 3 pin driver from a NF and make a custom drive shaft and make it stronger.

Nick, I don't see any reason you couldn't do front and rear rag joint on it, in fact you could even double them for a total of four like the later models with the twins have.:beerchug:

I think im gunna go with the front and rear rag joint from a quiet line. I just want to know if it will bolt directly in

just like drag racing

Torque will find the weakest link... :biggrin2:

Oh torque found the weak spot. The worn drive shaft pin and worn groove in the hub was the issue

I have a 129 that came with the double rag joints and im much more impressed by those than my other 129 with just one flex disk in the rear, id have to imagine it would work.
