I got my 782 home today . It's really rough and needs some TLC. Rod threw the block and been sitting outside for quite awhile. Shifter won't move, hygraulic lever won't move, brake pedal was froze. I sprayed all moving parts with blaster and letting it soak for a few days. If it turns out this thing is worth saving I have a 16HP V-Twin Briggs to drop in. Brucer95 (son) told me some on here have done it. Anyhow I'm going to save her if I can.

Looks like a long road ahead of you...eventually you will come to the end and realize it is worth saving.New these were like $3000.00

You have a doable project tractor. (reminds me of the 147 that I drug home last summer.) Lots of time and dollars and you can have a great tractor. Will be watching your progress if you decide to get into this one.

Chris

I agree! Will throw in :TwoCents: Save it! IH Built, red one, and have seen others on here and other forums in MUCH worse shape and guys have come out smiling in the end! Worth the time and money you sink into it. Keep us all updated on progress PLEASE! I have one I need to work on too sometime SOOOOON! Collecting dust in hiding from the wife!

:HeadScratch:

Correct me if I am wrong...but there is at least $500.00 worth of parts sitting on the trailer alone ??? Worth saving I'd say!

Don't give up on trading that Briggs for a Series II Kohler KT 17.

Great save on the 782. Bring that thing back to life!! Looks like an earlier 782. Has an early grill on it. What's the serial number? Congrats!:beerchug:

red56turbo,The last 6 numbers are679505. The only reason I am considering the Briggs is because I allready have a very low hour 16 V-Twin. But I'm not 100% sure I'll use it. I'll just have to get started on this project and see were it leads.

I'm sure you realize this, but just to make sure...your shifter won't move because your brake pedal is locked in the down position. There is a small lever on the brake pedal with notches on it that should be rotated to release the brake pedal. I can see from the pic that it is in the locked position. Unlock the brake and see if the shifter will move.
