hydro fluid

what type of hydro fluid does the cc123 call for?

ajgross 12-03-2010 05:26 PM

either "Hy-Tran" which is available at a Case IH Dealer or "Hydraulic Transmission Fluid" which is available at your cub dealer.

10 degrees here in the north woods. should I run the hydro for a while before changing hydro fluid or just drain it regardless of the temp

ol'George 12-06-2010 12:29 PM

It's always best to drain warm fluid, if it is possible.
I like to give it as long to drain as I possibly can, overnight being ideal.

I also like to jack up the front of the tractor and get as much as possible out of the pump.

fluid type

I was checking round town and found some fluid from NAPA #1410 hydro fluid. I also found #303 hydro fluid from O'Reilly. I just wondering whats been heard of these two and which would be the better of the two. thanx

I see you're in WI...I bet you have a CaseIH or Case dealer nearby from which to procure the real thing. We just discussed this at length in another thread.

Personally, use the Hy-Trans... Where in WI are you located?

lwrehm 12-06-2010 07:25 PM

If you are in the Sheboygan County area, there is an impliment dealer in Waldo that carries Hy-Tran, also Madsons in St Nazianz has it in gallons and I believe in bulk.

Hayward WI is where I am at.... north country!!!

There are items you should shop around for to save money. The fluid for your tractor is not one of them. Use the Hy-tran and get another 40 years out of your Cub. Spend the extra $5 or so and get the best filter. It will pay off in the long run.

Otherwise, if you get down here often there's the Case-IH in Menomonee which the counter guy there is very good. We have a Case-IH Construction equipment dealer here in E.C., but I have not stopped or asked there yet...and there is a CC dealer in Osseo.
