Default Hy-Tran source???

I don't know if this is a sign of the times around my area or what... My cub "dealer" has never been much of a dealer, just has 'cub' on the sign. Anyway, I went in today to get some transmission fluid for the O and 127. I was informed by the girl that they have quit carrying all fluids for sale for anything! Even bar oil for chainsaws. I asked her a couple of times and she said that oil is just getting too expensive and all they are carrying is for in house service only.

So.... what's my options? I believe the general consensus is to stick with Hy-Tran, right? Does TSC carry it? There is a JD dealer in the area, but that's it for about 60 miles outside of AutoZone, Advance, Fisher... I guess I'll be looking to order 5 gal off the web.... Shipping is probably going to suck.

Any Cub Cadet or Case-IH Dealer(s) will carry the real thing. As always, the sponsors listed above would be more than happy to help you too.

Not to take way from our wonderful sponsors, I run a NAPA Auto parts store and universal tractor hydraulic fluid that NAPA sells meets Case/IH spec #JIC 143-145/MS1204-1206(Hy-Trans). Part # 85-475, this is for warmer climates. Part # 85-401(1 gallon) and 85-405 (5 gallon) are the premium heavy duty tractor hyraulic fluid that is for year round use (meets same specs).

I just called my local dealer and had them quote me a price on Hy-Trans Ultra Plus(it's the only type the sell). 5 gallon bucket, $70.91 + tax! I sell the NAPA brand all day long for $39.99 + tax. Why would anyone want to go to a dealer for UTHF?

They would because it's the real thing. I'd be willing to bet the NAPA fluid doesn't have the water retention properties that Hytran has.

NAPA's fuild says it meets Case/IH spec. If it did not that is false advertising. Yes the "real" stuff may be better, but if you change your fliud regularly, then what does it matter. You can almost buy 2 for the price of 1 at the dealer. Sorry, I can't afford that.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
