Well, I found a good deal on a 147 in my area so I picked it up. Needs some work, but it's got solid bones. First item of business will be a wiring harness cause this one is rotten, like is prone on the 6/7 series. Then I need to find a lift for it. This one had been removed at some point. PO said he would let me know if he comes across it somewhere. It was given to him by a friend after being in storage for 5+ years. Has the sleeve hitch, spring assist, and all the lights are there. Here's to hoping I can make it nice again :beerchug:

Nice find sir lancealot,
You will be able to find a regular lift arm easier than the Elift which can be pricey. Hydro lift would be betterer. |
Looks like a good deal. I have always be intrigued by the 147.

147s are awesome. Love mine. A PO had removed the e lift way before I bought it and had installed an armstrong lift (manual) that works great. I went and put a spring assist on it and it helps. I'd love a hydraulic lift but everything I've read says that the 147 frame is slightly different than the narrow frames (not counting the cut out for the flywheel) so drilling of the frame is necessary for the hydro lift.

Very nice there Lance, yeah a 147 will be in my stable in the future but congrats on yours!!!!!!

Looks good Lance. Everything accounted for, good pick up.
Tis the season. Your brother is right, lots of people getting rid of stuff for good deals for extra Christmas money. Can't say I haven't done it myself |
Congrats on the 147 Lance, looks good!:beerchug:

Tim, I don't know if the other series tractors are like this, but I know all my tractors have the holes pre-drilled from the factory ( on both sides no less!) That's all 3 of my 125's and my 72. When I put the hydro lift on 125 #1, it was an easy bolt-on affair. I have a 107 frame kicking around, I'll see if that is pre-drilled or not.

1X4/5 and 1X6/7 series (except the 147) frames were all drilled for the hydraulic lift.
Originals, 70/100's and the 1X2/3 series all had to be drilled. Someone once told me that the later 1X2/3 series were drilled, don't think I've never seen one and don't think any of mine are. I would put a manual lift on it and keep an eye out for an electric lift, or a hydraulic lift, then fab up a nice bracket for it to fit your 147. |
Congrats on the 147:beerchug:

Haha! We both get new toys to work on and play with!! Congrats!!
Wanna race to see who can get their's running first? Wouldn't be fair, you only work like 2 days a week. :bash: See you in a few days!! |
Nice find! So, having set for a spell, the basic engine / transmission stuff should be looked at. I usually pull the head on my tractors, de-carbon the two surfaces, and flatten the head, among many other things!
Good luck, I bet you get the 147 up and running soon! :biggrin2: |
J let me know when you come down again!
Nice find Lance.... |
Thanks everyone! I think I'll do what was suggested and put a manual lift on until I come across an e-lift for a good price. I can always "borrow" the lift from my 106 since it has the shredder mounted to it. Don't really need it for that tractor right now.
As far as the hydro lift, has anyone put one on a 147? It seems like the frame flares would be in the way for the pulley and such for the hydro? |
