Kohler fuel pumps

Regarding Kohler K341 fuel pumps, I know that there are new ones available. I thought I saw some rebuild kits somewhere, now I can't find them. Has anyone seen these, or am I crazy?

Cub Cadet did not use a Fuel Pump on the K series engines, that they used, that I am aware of. Going to the Kohler site, I find NO repair kits for the K series fuel pumps that were used by "others".

Cub Cadet did use a fuel pump on one K engine.... the one in the 1282. They also used them on the KM series. (Which is essentially the same thing.) Just replace the fuel pump. They are available in aftermarket. I am not aware of any kits to rebuild available anymore. Look up a CC 1050, 1210, 1211, 1282.

Primeline has them, very reasonable prices. Most auto parts stores sell the primeline brand.

I'm here for a lesson. I have a 680 that is the same as the 1282 except for paint color. I agree that they do have a fuel pump. What I am more curios about is did all other K-series in Cubs just use gravity feed? Why did Cub/CCC make the change for the 1282/680? I have seen where people convert to the Briggs style vacuum pump which is less expensive than the Cub/Kohler one.

In short, the IH built Cubs w/K Series engines were all gravity fed. The first fuel pump came into being, was on the KT series engines seen in the 82 Series Cubs.

I assume it was where the gasoline tank was located.

does anybody have info for a good electric fuel pump to replace the mechanical pump?

Tim, I picked one of these up for my 3205 and so far it has worked fine. I figured for what it cost it was worth a try.

***specs say it puts out 3 to 6 psi. My Kawi FD620 is carbureted but maybe they can take more pressure then the Kohlers.

Roland is correct. If you look, the tank on the 1282/680 is either the same level, or just below the carb. The other tanks were mounted high enough that gravity feed was sufficient.

I wouldn't go to that junk vacuum fuel pump. The mechanical ones are much more reliable. Yeah, they cost more. Big deal. They don't fail but only once every 20 years or so. My 1050 still has the original.... so it's 27 years old.

I really wish i could remember the name of the place, but there's a hotrod builder who makes the metal fuel pumps still.... I'll try and find it.

Pretty sure that when Cub came out with the 82 series they needed a pump to suck the last gallon or so out of the tank. This is a pic of a 1210 that I had. For all intents and purposes the same as your tractor. You'll see that the bottom of the tank is at or below the level of the carb.

I've used one of that exact pump, it works fine. Got it at NAPA.
If you go electric, and it fails you won't fill your crankcase with
gas.:beerchug:

Thanks Roland, Jonathan, and Sam. Always good to learn a thing or two from the guys that have been at it for a while.
