1976 cub cadet 1250 restore
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys been a little bit since I've been on here, I picked up a 76 cub cadet 1250 from a guy the next town over from me. His wife's father bought it new back then and he said it was apart for 15 years in a garage for some reason. So anyway I went and looked at it and picked it up for 650 . I got a qa36a snowblower , wheel weights and a 44 inch mower deck. It runs great but needs some help, so begins the tear down process and clean up.

It looks like it was pretty solid to begin with. I gotta say I fell in love with the 1250 right after I bought the 102 from the same owner. I kept looking at it saying no I dont need it, but after driving one... well thatw as the end of that/
Looks like you are going to do a great job restoring her! I swear these tractors are addicting. Unfortunately they go for a mint here in the nw |

It is a pretty solid machine don't really need much except engine mounts and a stator cause the mice chewed the wires right in half , so here's some more pics got a lot done yesterday with the rain yet again

Jezz dude, you weren't messing around. Your done already??? You can't possibly be married. HAHAHA! I spend more then 3hrs in the garage on my 1250 and my wife goes crazy......
It looks great man! I have to agree with your comment about the QuietLine series of tractors being the best looking. Of course, we could be alittle bias. haha. I love the black steering drag link. That's a nice touch! |
Man that is SHARP! You did a grew job! Just one question , how did you keep from scratching the wheels up when you put the tires on? Or did you take them some place and have them do it? Good looking tractor!
|
Wow x2 very fast. Looks great. I really am drooling over the chipper, exactly what I'm looking for and looks great on a quiet line. Give us some details, what paint did you use?
|
Very nice job,:beerchug: you work fast:bigthink:
|
That's what I call quick turnaround. Nice job! Also interested in details about what you did to the tractor other than paint. or was everything good mechanically? Really like the ags on the front!
|
Wow that was quick, looks great.:beer2:

ok guess I need to answer some questions lol, I have a cheap harbor freight tire changer for atv and tractor tires its around 40 I think and works great, always wrap duct tape around the tools and use vegetable oil for the lube works great smells good probably why im hungry now. I do it all myself except machine work because I don't have the right tooling, im not married or have a girlfriend because there would be no way id ever get these beauties done at all, plus no one to take my money except the parts store lol. as far as paint I use the stuff from tractor supply it works great and its cheap, I use majic paint majic thinner and hardener. I do not use there primer cause it sucks really bad and takes forever to dry so I use rustoleum white primer and not one single issue with it, give it about 20-30 minutes depending on the humidity and put the majic ontop and bam that's how it comes out. The tractor itself as I took it apart I found stuff that I need to buy, my list of what I bought as far as everything is
iso engine mounts new stator/alternator carb rebuild kit as some one decided to only put in one bowl gasket rustoleum semi gloss black , for the engine vht high temp paint for the muffler new head lights napa 4411 with screw leads NOS bargman tail lights from ebay from darkminion 17 tractor supply seat mule drive pulleys set of 1250 and mower deck decals from maple hunter decals majic cub cadet yellow and I H white plus hardener and thinner that's about it guys I added it up and comes out to about $450 into it plus the $650 I paid for it so not to bad and I paid $450 for the shredder grinder delivered here. don't think its that bad as far as prices go it looks new now my dad wants me to do his 1000 lol. I got some pics of the mower deck ill put some up for you guys looks good |

ok here is a few pics with the deck on looks pretty good I cleaned the deck up and put a few new decals on it saved the two better ones

Nice job, man! Got to agree, the Quiet Line is a beautiful looking IH Cub Cadet garden tractor, and still retains all the heavy, strong old iron too. There are just some outstanding QL's here at Only Cub Cadets.net ! Mine has a 50" deck, and a rear lift for attachments. But that IH chipper is very neat to see.
The pair of spread frames in the back ground are cool too! :American Flag 1: |
