Creeper trouble

I have long wanted to install a creeper in my 102, so I found a 104 with a creeper. I swapped the 104 creeper, drive shaft, clutch into the 102. When I was done, fired the engine, left the clutch out and nothing..it won't move. It appears as if the clutches are slipping, when in fact both worked well before I swapped everything over. The 102 clutch, drive shaft, works fine in the 104. I did install a new throw out bearing and teaser spring on the creeper shaft. Could the teaser spring not be stiff enough? I split the 102 again and tested the creeper on the ground. It spins over fine when using a drift pin to spin the input shaft. I am lost. Do I need new clutches?

Did you forget to put a pin in the driveshaft?

Creeper trouble? Did you try the police?? :ROTF1:

Hope you get your issue solved.

Guys, thanks for the responses, I found the trouble. One pin was waaay to long and actually hit the cross member of the frame, stopping the shaft from spining! Mr Dremel and a tile cutting bit cut the ends off without removing the shaft...I am a lucky dog. I will post pics later...got to get creepn!...LOL.

ok, whats the easiest way to post pics?

kostendorf 12-21-2013 04:24 PM

down load this program and resize your pics to 640x480. This is a very nice way to play with pictures.

well lets see if I got this to work. Heres the culprit. you can bearly make out the pins silver edges that I had to cut. Thats looking in from the right side at the drive shaft.

So, you are saying that that pin hit the cross member and kept the shaft from turning when you let out on the clutch? But, yet it didn't kill the motor..... :bigthink:

If that is correct, you better check your clutch! Sounds junk to me. Should have killed it dead. Bare minimum smoke should have been rolling. :bigthink:

sixty8cat 12-21-2013 06:16 PM

when I relized I had a problem, I didnt force the issue. Didnt smoke the clutch, didnt hurt the motor. I actually have the thrower working and drove the tractor thru all the gears, hi and low range.

If you had the motor at idle and it didn't kill the engine, something is wrong.

J-Mech 12-21-2013 06:20 PM

In the pic you posted, the clutch plate isn't even touching the front steel plate. Look to see if the clutch is hung up on the three pin driver. It definitely isn't together right.

sixty8cat 12-21-2013 06:43 PM

sorry, that pic is taken with the brake lever locked down. and yes it did kill the engine at one point at idle.

Ok..... still doesn't sound like it's right. Should have killed it every time. :bigthink:
You can put a plow on the back of a gear drive tractor, pull anything, and rarely do you slip the clutch. Even with added weight. You slipped it when a little 1/4" roll pin hit the frame. :HeadScratch: It should have done something other than just not move. Smoke, kill the engine, break the pin, bend the driveshaft, something!
