My 122
I bought my 122 to plow my driveway but since my shoulder is bad I needed to add hydraulics. So I started to take some things apart to put on the pump on. Then I decided I might as well clean it up and paint it. Now for my questions. Do I need to put the lift "helper spring" back on it since I'm running hydro now? Also which is better, paint or powder coat?http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...psfa0b36bb.jpg

Powder coat is supposed to be tougher I hear. You would have to have a big oven to bake it on though.
|
Powder coating is a very tough coating but you will have to sandblast or at least strip everything to bare metal.
The bad thing is that if it does get chipped, it makes it even easier for the chip to get bigger and bigger. You also have to retap all threads afterwards to get the powdercoat out of the threads. There is good and bad to both paint and powder coating. |
You won't need the spring assist, since you have the hydraulic lift.

What Allen said and I see it has creeper gear :beerchug:
|
What are you using for a lift?
|
Looking good. Boy, if you bought it to plow snow and it's in that many pieces, hopefully you have a backup cub. A great excuse to find a second or fifth cub. :biggrin2:

Great build! Keep us updated!

I dropped off all the sheet metal to have it sandblasted, I used stripper to clean the frame. It is now in primer.

Fitted the hydraulic pump, http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps878c0988.jpg

mine wont be "show" quality but it will look nice. I'm replacing every visible bolt and washer with stainless. I will probably add lights to it while I'm at it. My plan is to have it back together in a couple weeks. I hope the snow will hold off til then...

Great start and progress you have there. Judging by your user name I think we would also like to see some pics of your.....................camaro..........or maybe Chevelle?

Very cool vehicles. I like the TJ, looks good. Thanks for sharing

Busy day, I picked up the sheet metal from the sand blaster and dropped it off at the paint and body shop to get sprayed, (I could do it but they have a real paint booth and can bake it in..) I also put 5gal of windshield washer fluid in each of my back tires for a little extra weight. My steering column also came in so I went ahead and put it in...

It's coming together!
|
Looks good:beerchug:
|
Right now I have a heater on both sides in hopes to "cure" and "bake" the paint while I'm waiting on the sheet metal....
|
I'm getting antsy, I pick up the sheet metal in the morning then I have a few hours to get it together before the snow falls.... I'm cutting it close.
|
its up and running, I still need to clean up the rims, and the implements. I also need to find a seat and steering wheel.

Great news! Looks great!

Nice job!! Really looks sharp!
Looks like you got it back together just in time for the storm we're getting tonight! I'll be putting in some seat time tomorrow morning on my 1250 moving snow. They're predicting over a foot of snow in the Berkshires. Having a cub actually makes the work a lot more fun.. |
Nice 122! Glad you got it running!
|
ugh... went out to move a bit of snow and blew a hydraulic hose right away. Nothing like a face full of oil to get you going in the morning...
