Help me identify this cub!

1 Attachment(s)
My uncle just dropped this photo off to me and I'm very excited because it is a picture of me when I was about 3 years old. For years my brothers and I wondered what number cub cadet our dad had when we were younger but never knew a picture existed. Surprise....here it is! I think it is a 103, but I'm not for sure.....I don't even know if cub made a 103. Can anyone help me positively ID this? I am as excited as if I bought another cub!

Thanks in advance....

Z front and square fenders, looks like a 1x6/1x7 series.

Looks to me like a 106 I don't see a hydro lever but it could just be hidden. And number looks like 10*

Either a 106 or 126. I'd vote for the 106 as well, especially since you remember it as a "103". Neat old pic!!

126 because it has a 12 air cleaner

I believe it is a 106 . My brother said it was a 10 hp engine....and you can see the 10- on the side of the hood. It was a gear drive, and the picture shows the lip on the fender, so it wasn't a 104 ....therefore, I believe it to be a 106.

I was able to buy my dad's second cub cadet-a123 after my dad passed, but it doesn't have as many or as profound of memories as this one...the 106. So now, the quest is on to find and purchase my dad's 106....the one that I remember him pulling me and my two brothers and two sisters in a red trailer around in. Interesting, I never remember the front blade on the cub, but the picture shows the undercarriage of a front blade on it.

Thank you, everyone for your help and kind comments.

Is there a difference between a 10 and 12 hp air cleaner?

darkminion_17 08-18-2013 10:26 PM

Well, good luck finding the tractor, don't know how one would even start looking for it. But it would be cool as heck if you do find it.

Believe it or not, I have already traced it to a guy who lives in a small town--pop. about 1000. He got it in a trade about 7 years ago. I need to contact him and see if he still has it or what became of it. Still hoping that it exists and I can acquire it!

Hope you can acquire the 106. Glad you found it's location. :beerchug:

I'm going to say 106 as well. You can see the gear shifter in the pic.

Also....Had a thought regarding your ohio/indiana problem. You're a browns fan at heart and your sub-conscious won't let you leave the state.

Haha.....actually, I'm in Indiana but listed as Ohio. I used to be a Cincinnati Reds fan when some of the greats played the game (Bench, Foster, Rose, Griffey, Concepcion, Morgan, etc...), but that era is gone. Now, to locate my dad's cub and make it mine!!:beerchug: I believe it is less than a 1/2 hour away from me!!! The guy who had it before the current owner said that it had been in a flood, so I'm hoping its condition isn't horrible. As long as no one started it with water in the tranny or engine and water didn't sit in them very long, it should be salvageable. I have a 104 that would make a great donor for it if needed.

Good luck on getting it I wish I could get my dads old 782d back but its long gone as it was involved in a little accident when he came home from drinkin one night and didn't see it was parked in the driveway...
