I found it quicker to pull the motor and the clutch comes out hole and then try and pound out the role pins. What ever you do don't put a role pin back in.

Good luck on your throw out bearing! It will be good as new, when you're done.

Maybe some one can help me... i saw a tool on ebay to press the spring on the shaft to put the roll pins in. I no longer can find it. Does anyone know a webside that sells it?

jacobd 04-08-2013 09:31 AM

Not sure on the tool but just fyi you can remove the engine and use the release arm to hold the spring back while you knock in the pins. Use a jack stand or something to support the front of the drive shaft. Nothin to it.

I use a bench vice to get out the roll pin. 1.lightly clamp the drive shaft 2.tap on the end on the drive shaft on the clutch end. 3.tighten vice 4. tap out the roll pin. 5.slowly release the vice. That's the way I do it and it works great for me.

Be careful, I've seen little things like this turn into full blown restorations.

I used the same technique. Works fine. I use a woodworkers bench vise, so the jaws are lined with hardwood. Just do it BEFORE you paint the shaft. BTDT.

So i should paint the shaft and spring after there put together? I do wana paint my clutch before it goes back in.

sawdustdad 04-09-2013 09:04 AM

putting the shaft in a vise to compress the spring will scrape some of the paint off.

CadetTY 04-10-2013 06:33 AM

mmzullo 04-10-2013 07:32 AM
