I put an extra pump from a 122 on my 149 for my front blade. The pump don't work. It is on the same side as the 122 but is their a rotation problem?
Any help would be appreciated.

thank you old 149

Rotation would be the same, has the pump been purged of air? Why not just tap the existing lines and add another valve?

Yosemite Sam 02-23-2013 09:25 PM

Yes, the rotation is correct.

Is this a known good pump?

What kind of fluid did you put in the pump?

You didn't overfill it did you?

cub123 02-23-2013 09:58 PM

I think because the pump is upside down it might not be getting fluid:bigthink: Especally if it only has the recommended amount of fluid.

LMAO, shoulda put my glasses on and looked closer at the pic.

Cub123 is correct, unbolt the pump, turn it over in the bracket, rotate the can and it stands a much better chance of working.

IF the Hydraulic Pump were mounted in the correct location, the Drive Pulley on the Flywheel end of the engine, would be a lot larger in diameter. Thus, spinning the pump at a higher RPM, would create the needed pressure, to work correctly.

It appears you are running approx a 1-3/4 to 1 reduction, try getting it so the suction inlet is on the bottom and see where you are @ as you are sucking wind now.
But I'm thinking like Roland, that it may need to be run faster to work,--- but you might be lucky and does what you want, just slower.
No harm in trying.

With the pump upside down like that it cant pick up any fluid. The inlet for the fluid is on the bottom of the pump. The way you have yours the inlet is at the top. Also, when you turn it over make sure that you rotate the fluid can so the filler is about 2/3 up on the side. The can should only be filled 2/3 full. There's very little that can go wrong with those pumps as long as they're not leaking. I would'nt worry about the pulley. Try it first.

Ask Allen what happens when one is over filled.:bash2: I should have gotten him a new sock.:biggrin2:

Make sure the fill hole on the pump is at the 2 o'clock position so you can fill it to the correct level.

Yosemite Sam 02-24-2013 03:29 PM

LOL, I also know what happens when you overfill one.

First, you have to call Thing 1 and Thing 2 to come help clean the mess up...

You owe me a sock and a shoe, buddy! Hot fluid on your leg is no fun. :biggrin2:

It did give you a rush! I've been looking for the right sock and right shoe sale but no luck so far. Once I find it I'll pick them up for ya!:biggrin2:

I'd love to hear that story.

When Allen and I did the trade of the 100 for 122 deal, the day of pick up was one of those that didn't go off as planned. Once I got everything fixed and we went out to the garden to turn some dirt Allen made a couple of passes and lowered the plow and very warm hytran bypassed the seal and soaked his right ankle and foot. We both didn't have a clue of what happened. It turns out when the hydro pump was rebuilt they didn't put the fill hole at the 2 o'clock position and I filled her full and it was to much hytran. The extra placed it self in on/in Allen's shoe and sock. I wonder how the 2.5 hr ride home felt.:bigthink:

With all due respect, I have two questions:

Why did you chose to use an auxillary pump on your 149 instead of the factory installed hydraulic lift?

Why did you install the pump to drive from the PTO end of the engine?

Thanks

Duke, Funny story. I would have loved to see the look on Allen's face. Allen, watch out for that hydro fluid. It makes your hair fall out!!!

It was pretty funny! I was plowing along and felt hot fluid splashing my leg. I didn't know, what to think at first...lol. About the hair, it fell out long before the Hy-Tran! :biggrin2:
