Forgive me if this has been asked before, but...
I've got a question about the hydro on my 147. When going from forward to reverse I can notice a slight thump and I have visually seen the pump moving forward and reverse respectively. Is this due to the pump being loose, and if so, how does one go about tightening it?
Thanks |

never thought of that... I thought it might be the cap screws that hold the pump to the rear end...
Would the bolts that hold the rear in the frame be those that are needed to be removed when the tractor is involved in a split? (I've got the service manual and I think I know which ones you are referring to) thanks |
Those are the ones, also there is a bracket on each side that attaches the the tranny and the frame.

I had them get loose on the 1650.:bash2:

I looked at my (cubs) rear end today; three of the 6 cap screws were loose. The one on the front of the rear end (the one that is centered between the 3 that are needed for a split) were the worst. The one on the left side (looking forward) was so loose I could take it out with fingers.
Never would have thought to look there. I figured I had bigger fish to fry. She works MUCH better now, very smooth. I appreciate the tips on where to look. I'm thankful for this forum and the people on it. Thanks a lot! |

Should some type of "locktight" be used on the rebuild? And as long as I'm on the subject, why does that stuff cost so much? |

I've owned the 1250 since about 1984 or so and it was a beaten horse at the time (cemetary mower). I kept it going with the usual "nuisance" stuff (plus a new K341 engine in the late 80's). My current "tear down" actually has given me a lot more appreciation for the thing that my wife keeps telling me to dump...Xmas is coming so the "Christmas Story" movie will be running non-stop...my 1250 (now a hybrid 1650) reminds me of that furnace scene. |

Yep you should use some Loc-Tite on the threads of bolts and a little silicone under the bolt heads to seal them so they don't leak. |

I've only got one, so does that make me a 1/2%'er?
