Got my 129

I thought I would start another thread on this but I said that I was getting a 129 well I just got it today. I have not really dug to far into it yet but as far as I can tell it needs cleaned it has sat in a barn for 2 years so its dirty, the mouse nest needs removed, the carb needs cleaned or rebuilt but I gonna rebuild it while I have it off, needs a tunnel cover, the lift handle button is stuck, and just general maintenance from sitting for so long. I will try to post pictures as I go but I do have one when I got it home and set aside. I do have the carb off now and working on that. The gas tank was clean but I will clean it again.....and of course there was gas left in the carb:bash2::bash2::bash2::angry:
Now I am not real familiyer with cub options but the tractor has headlights and a cigarette lighter is that a rare option? I was more excited about the headlights than anything cause I my self dont see vary many wide frames with headlights. If you guys have any other information you can give me that would be great.

Congrats on the 129!:beerchug:
It has some goodies!

Looks good! I'd love a 129 or a 149. My quarter acre requires a lot of backing up and such with a garden tractor to get the grass mowed.

I have a spare WF tunnel cover. PM me.

That's a good looking 129. Yes the lights and cigarette lighter were options with the cigarette lighter being quite hard to find. You will enjoy that 129.:beerchug:

Nothing like a barn find. Congrats on your new 129:beerchug:

thanks guys, this is actually my second 129 the first one I had needed alot of work and I used it for about a year then sold it but I cant wait to get this one up and running so I can use it. This makes number 3 of my cubs this one and my 1862 will be the work tractors(I have another yellow and white one but this one says sears on it instead of cub) the other cub is a puller. The fenders are going to need straightened it had a cab on it at one time and they are all bent and were the holes are they are pulled up but I have seen and fixed worse so that wont be a problem. the hood is decent with some rust but alot of dirt.

worked on the 129 today got the carb apart and soaking, pulled the mouse nest out, the gas tank was clean but i cleaned it again anyway, cleaned the wire connectors and got it to crank but its not getting power to the coil??? any ideas on were to start? I did pull the head of and cleaned it and the piston they werent very dirty but I did it anyway and found the motor has been rebuilt once already .10 over, checked the transmission it has the right amount of hy-tran in it but I do believe it has the wrong filter I couldnt find on it anywhere the words hydrolic transmission filter or cub cadet so that needs changed before I use it to much. My goal right now is to just get it running and driving then I will change everything. its one step at a time cause right now i already need fluid and filter for both tractors.

Tater305 01-18-2012 05:20 PM

:beer2: well after days of cleaning and checking I finally got the 129 running and driving. It still needs some work like it not wanting to idle but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the points cause it pops and idles ruff but once you run it half open or more it smooths out and sounds great. the hydro needs some work cause it will speed up on its own and its a little too fast but I dont think the filter is the right one, it needs changed anyway so no big deal...but at least I can use it who knows maybe the blade off the 1862 will find its way onto it while I fix the M18 motor:bigthink:

Yeah put some new points and a condenser and set the timing and that should help a lot.

You will have to show us some pics of it. :beerchug:

Just think of your project as a diamond in the rust.

well here it is up and running. It still needs cleaned a little better but its in better shape now then when I brought it home.

ACecil 01-19-2012 01:11 PM

Not a bad looking 129 at all! :beerchug:

Tater305 01-19-2012 03:03 PM

thanks guys, this 129 is in far better shape then the last one I got it needed rebuilt again, it leaked oil, smoked like crazy and used more oil than gas, the generator was bad, never ran right wide open. So I would say this one is a step up in the world:biggrin2:

Donny Curtis 01-19-2012 03:06 PM

Glad it is going your way:beerchug:
