I hate to back you us a step, but, I have seen others just tighten that bolt to take out the slop of the frame to axle fit.

Without the shim, the axle/frame joint will be slightly stronger.

I made sure the shim was the same size as the area on the axle.

I jiged it up in a mill , its a old one from the 50's and the guy just uses it for a drill press. its still tight enough to do what I needed.

The (earlier) K301 and K241 flywheel shrouds are interchangeable. I think the later K301 engines, i.e. QLs, may have had the larger flywheel, but I can't remember.

hay,, the spindle showed up today... I got the deck on and the 682 did some tilling around a tree.

time to get back to work on the 582. I miss the O'l girl.
