Thank you friends. Got motivated and lazy at the same time today. Got home in the dark last night so just parked the trailer in the back yard. Got up this morning and pressure washed both, aired up the tires and parked them.

Well congrats on your new tractors Mike! Two is better than one for sure!
Yeah, those stacks are god-awful. I'd chop them off right quick too. So what's the plan for them? |
Alvy,
They cleaned up well, are the serial numbers sequential?? |
Mike,
Looks like they cleaned up nice!!:beerchug: Seat even looks good on at least one of them! I don't really like the stacks either but maybe you could leave them on there for a while for your kid!:biggrin2::biggrin2: Too bad somebody probably just chunked the original muffler in the corner or in the trash... had no idea of the value:bash2::bash2: Were you able to get any history on either one?:bigthink: |
Maybe mufflers on those stacks--got to be bad for the ears I think there were some 70's muscle era tractors with V engines that had those--IH had a couple I believe.

Story is that an older man had them and passed with cancer unfortunately. The guy I brought them from bought them from the man family that was trying to cover funeral expenses about a year ago. Haven't looked at serial numbers yet I need to do that. Was in a mad dash to get them cleaned up and unloaded before we went over to in laws this afternoon for Christmas.
There's an elaborate brace system using the head bolts to hold the pipes up, unfortunately the original muffler and original specific 169 heat shield are missing from that one. Seats on both are decent, only 1 tear each. Now that I've looked at them, I'm probably going to make one correct one out of the 2, swap things around, etc. I want it to have hydro lift and I'm thinking of taking the sleeve hitch/rear lift off the 800 and putting it on to pull one of my plows. Still undecided but there's definately some swapping that will happen as each one has pieces the other needs and vice versa. I think I saw an aluminum pan on the 16 which sucks. I will straighten them out as I have combined a 108 and 128 recently and have pieces left over. Bad news is I need fenders, both are pretty bad, it's a Florida thing, has happened to most of mine that I drag out of the woods. |
Sweet!! Congratulations on a great deal. Help your boy understand the beauty of a correct exhaust and how quiet it will be compared to stacks. Once he understands, let him help taking them off.
