Guys, be safe out there with the blower/throwers. I have been more than safety minded, and a freak accident cost me a 6hr stay in the ER and shorter fingers yesterday trying to clear the driveway.. Turn the PTO off no matter what you need to do even if your not near it..

Thanks guys, I guess I will no longer sit and think "how the heck he do that?" anymore. A lot of lessons learned that's for sure. Just glad I had heavy leather mittens on, or it would have been way worse.

Jay hope you have a speedy recovery. I know how you feel I got caught in a tiller about 18 months ago. Machines can humble a man real quick.

Jay - speedy recovery man, sorry to hear about your injury!
My close call was last summer - I was tilling an elderly neighbor's garden patch (tightly fenced in to keep deer out) with his Troy-Bilt Horse . . . I put it into reverse and it wouldn't come out of gear. I was just barely able to scramble up the fence as the tines were starting to grab my pants leg. I've owned that exact same kind of tiller for 20 years and know even gear you know well will reach out and bite ya. So now that I've been properly humbled, I'll NEVER use a piece of unfamiliar equipment again without checking out ALL of it's functions first! |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
