hmmm could be from a JD. i looked at a older JD and it had the k301aqs in black in it.

found out it came out of a massey ferguson. now what model and year, i have no clue. thats what my dad said. i do know that it is almost identical to the 301 AQS thats in my 77 1200. jeff

Looks like all you have to do is get a cub oil pan and you"re good to go.

12 hp engine
Jeffscub, about that Massey Ferguson 12 hp engine,
I'm sorry to inform you but that engine won't work in a Cub without a LOT of reworking on it. When you unbolt the pan on it, you'll find an oil return channel (the raised section angling down to the mount area) and only the proper pan, read 'Not Cub Cadet', will fit and cover this area. Also, you'll find that a crankshaft change will be necessary if you wish to use the Cub's PTO, either manual or electric. Just my  I suggest you trade/sell the engine and get the right one and a lot of the real headaches will be gone. I know that in some cases this means cubic dollars, but. . .so be it. I'm not trying to be negative, just trying to save you some migrane sized headaches! Happy cubbing, FFGino.
