Default Wheel Weights or New Tires?

So I am having difficulties with my lawn in a few spots due to traction and someone on here recently suggested weights.

Where would I find them? I don't even know where to begin to look.

Which should I do first?

Change the turf tires or get weights?

Its a Super Garden Tractor model 2086. Where would I find wheel weights for it?

Thanks,

Kevin

AG tires with tubes filled with fluid is hard to beat for added traction! If you need more weight than that, then you can add the wheel weights later.

You'll need both. IH weights on ebay.

When tires get old they get hard and lose traction that way too.

As I stated before you need to be at about 200lbs PER wheel/tire. You gotta load them also. Trupowers are nice but I'm now mowing with them and I have learned as you will too that they have no traction in reverse up a hill. I'd likely look for an agressive turn tire. If Carlise made the All Trails in our size I'd be all over that.

We're dealing with an entirely different soil condition down here and lots of hills. Chains will destroy our turf.

I have chains for my tractor I use in the winter. I have used them in really nasty wet conditions in the summer but feel the cons outweigh the pros off season. I suggest some AG or HDAP tires along with weight if you have hills. Turfs are made for driving on flat, smooth, dry ground. Here is a link for some DIY plastic weights. Much cheaper than buying ready made. Wish I had seen this link years ago.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
