Hello! Noob from Statesville, NC I have no cub atm but do have plans on buying at least one this spring. I can't seem to talk my wifes uncle out of selling one of his three so I might as well start looking for one. He did say something about he'll be done with them when he's dead what ever that means hehe.
I'm just not sure which model to buy. Here's what I'm wanting to do with it. 1. Must be able to attach a tiller to it. 2. Must be able to pull my son's caboose/trailer around (he has put in a request for a another trailer train thymed as well) So it has to be a good puller as well. 3. Would prefer shaft driven not sure if it's better but I think it would proform better for my needs? 4. The deck is not important to me I plan on buying a zero turn for my mowing duties. 5. I love the front end loaders not sure if I really have a huge need for one but hey they're cool. I really like the new tillers listed on cub's site anyone know if those can be used on a older cub? Thank you for your time sorry for the noob questions. Methos |

Methos! Glad to have you! I'd go with an old IH built Cub Cadet. It will fit all your needs. I also prefer the shaft drive, over the belt drive. Tillers are available for the older cubs. Nice to see a fellow NC member!

Thank you for the warm welcome! Would one of the IH be able to have the loader attachment to it? Thinking about it while I was working tonight I might as well get one that can support the loader as well you know just in case I happen to find one at a later date and all.
I'm making a trip to Ohio in April to go tooling around with my wife's uncle to a couple cub places he's been telling me about. I'm so hopeful that I'm going to find a cc that fits my needs I'm leaving the mini van in NC and taking my truck with ramps so I can bring one or three back with me. In fact the whole trip is planned around the cub hunt. The wife and kids will be "spending time" with her aunt while her uncle and I get go cc hunting. I've gotten the "make sure you get the one that you want" so I plan on doing just that. I hope I can find a tiller at the same time with the loader being a down the road purchase. Are there any must read threads I should read before I buy? Once again thank you for the warm welcome. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
