Default After Market Carb

Just for the heck of it, I ordered one of these from Fleabay. For the price I am willing to see if they will work or not. The only decent one I have left is on the 128 and I just don't think it is working out right. Have never been able to get the governor setting where it needs to be. It does run ok, but not great. I am pretty sure I saw some talk on here earlier about these but didn't see if anyone got one and how it worked for them. I'll try to keep an update on this. I should have it by this Saturday and will be putting it on the 128.

I got the carb in today. It's a good looking unit. The first thing I did notice is that the Choke shaft arm, the piece your choke cable will connect to, is 180 degrees backwards. I had a junk carb with a good choke shaft and just simply replaced that so that I can eventually hook up my choke cable correctly. You will also have to remove the 90 degree fuel hose adapter from your old carb and screw it into the new carb body. The throttle shaft arm is designed for the governor linkage that is removable. Again, luckily I had that exact setup on another junk carb. It bolted right up and fired up pretty much immediately. I can already tell with my governor spring in the correct hole on the governor arm that that motor is not surging or hunting like it was with the older carb. I feel that this aftermarket carb is going to work out pretty good. I have some pictures I will add a little bit later tonight. I will probably order another for the motor going into my nephews 73.

Pics of the new carb on right and old carb on left. You can see the difference in the choke arm location.

Pretty much the same here as you. Only ran it long enough to make sure it was going to work. The weather here is still pretty nasty, so I haven't gotten the 128 out to do a shake down with the carb. I still need to reset my RPM's as I was able to set the governor back to the correct sensitivity. The way things are going it will be next month before mother nature starts to give us warmer weather and no snow, LOL.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
