A lot of snow fell overnight, they said 5", but I measure more than that--you decide from the pictures. We already had about 2-3" of slushy ice underneath, so when I tried to use one of my 123's with a blade, loaded tires, and chains with grippers, I only slipped and spun...which has never happened before. After 30 minutes of frustration, I grabbed my IH 268 snowblower and had at it. The snow drifts were taller than my snowblower but it didn't seem to bog down or anything. I like my reserve snow removal equipment. Anyone else have an IH 268 or a Cub Cadet walk behind snowblower with some cool pics?

I like it. I'd use one of these before I'd think about putting a blower on the front of my cub. It's been getting so deep here lately I wish I could (have) borrow one just to make room.

I missed a running one of these on Craigslist a few years back and I kick myself for not acting on it sooner! Nice blower!

I have one similar to it. My grandpa used it as a back up if his 125 had problems too. I think its like a 265, possibly a 268 I can't remember. I'll check this weekend.

Thanks guys!! I drove through what seemed to be impassable country roads to buy it about 4 years ago and use it for back up, following my grandpa's advice--"Never stand when you can sit and never sit when you can lie down."--so I opt to sit on a cub rather than walk behind it. Today, it was more productive to walk rather than sit. I've never been disappointed with this performance. As I look at the modern snow throwers, this older (I think 1974 model) blows them away with quality of the housing, etc. I believe Ariens made them for IH and they definitely built them solid!!
Here is one similar to mine for sale in the Pennsylvania area if anyone is interested in one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IH-internati...item43c5537b2e Cub Cadet 123

I have one of these. I have used it one season because we haven't had the snow for it. We used to get heavy snow every year but not these days. It will throw snow a long way but is really hard to turn. You have to wrestle it around and the tracks don't help. But it is a bear. When I first got it we had a very light snow so I thought I would try it out.
Let me tell you, it will find that garden hose you forgot to put away real quick. All of a sudden you will have a bunch of pieces of hose flying through the air with the snow. I have a rear blade on my Kubota that handles heavy snow really well.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
