Default Spent the day in the shop
Yesterday I got the 147 ready for the colder winter months, and this included a bit of work I had planned for it.

Monday was the last "mow" of the season, at least for this machine. I don't know how much grass mowing I did as much as just moving leaves around, but it was still fun.

Mower deck removal.



Mule drive removal.



Needed a new starter/generator belt. Installing this meant moving the wiring harness around as the previous belt had the s/g as far away from the engine as possible. Although it worked, the belt was very tired, so I put a new one before it broke and I had to do it at -10 degrees.



I like how it has an IH on it.



-Oil change. Went from 30 wt. to 10W-30W.
-Greased up steering; box and spindles.

Install of lift bracket.





Install of chains. I taped off the c link on the back and zip tied off the chain excess.







I was hoping that I could get some paint on the blade; going to have to wait till next spring as it's too cold now.

It's been suggested that I have two cubs set up one for snow removal and one for mowing BUT I don't mind the conversion; I enjoyed yesterday in the garage, wrenching on my cub. (although I have two cubs that I'd like to get eventually.)

Great photos! Nothing like a year-end going over to assess the summer's use and transition to the winter clothes! I have to do this about 4 times here by December to get my Cubs ready for snow patrol. Good looking 147; mine will be in hibernation for the winter. I'm always concerned that I'll burn the electric lift out with snow removal although I have yet to hear of any war stories on the forum about this...

Yeah I agree- when I lived at my folks' place I used a Farmall H in the winter with a rear mounted blade. The cubs would get parked for the winter. When I moved out on my own, I wanted something that could get the job done, and I have no doubts that the 147 won't do as good a job as the H does.

As far as the bicycles go, you are correct, they are vintage Schwinn bikes, ranging from years between about 63 to 1980. I have 6 and my wife has 3. It is one of my other favorite hobbies. They are currently inverted because she isn't going to be riding them in the winter and I want to maintain proper tire life.

You may want to just cut off the excess chain rather than zip tying it. If it's not there it can't come loose and get wrapped up in the brakes. Ask me how I know.
