Default belts and pulleys

I have a 107 hydro...that was eating PTO belt (mule drive)..I tried aftermarket belts..and pulleys on the mule drive..same thing..could not keep a belt on and eventually tears the belt...I put IH/CC pulleys on and IH/CC Belt and now no problems...Does this sound familiar with anyone??? Would it really make the differance???

Yep, aftermarket belts just can't handle the twist and wear like Cub belts are designed to do.

F.W.I.W.
Belts are made for specific applications.
When a belt makes 1/4 twists and goes around idlers, it needs to be designed with materials that will withstand that.
There are aftermarket belts that withstand those conditions and I have/am using them, but they are not inexpensive.
They cost just as much as a factory belt designed for that application, sometimes more.
But there are times a non stock application length/width is required, thus the aftermarket suppliers provide that.
If a belt just goes between 2 pulleys, with no special needs, most any belt will work.

Goodyear "insta-power" series is one that will withstand the 1/4 twists/idlers/heat in a mower/mule drive application.
I'm sure there are other manufactures.
I have seen this in the farming industry as well as the auto industry, where I spent 40+ years.
By all means, if a factory designed belt is available go with it, as in the long run you are always dollars/time ahead of the game.

Most lawn and garden belts are odd sized, say 72 3/8 etc., The local parts stores carry fully sizes 72,73,74 etc.. so you get one a little tight or a little loose, most mowers dont have the adjustment capacity for this,,, and part store belts are just "belts". buy belts from a lawn and garden shop and spend a little extra, and you'll be $ ahead

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
