Default 1772 / tiller size?

I have been kind of looking for a tiller for a 1772. Is there a max width this tractor would handle? Plans are to use it for persoanl use, but who knows, might consider a little "commercial" use to till gardens in the spring?

I'm guessing 36 to 42"? Thoughts?

Got me a 50" behind my 982. I don't think your 640D would have any problem with anything that would hook up to a cat 0.

I have a 442 behind my 982 and it is excellent. The Onan hardly breaks a sweat with it and it does a fantastic job. Keep in mind that these are not standard 540 rpm tillers, they are 2000 rpm, specific to our Cubs. The tillers, rear pto's and original 3 points are pretty tough to find(if you don't already have the 3pt & rear pto), although Ruegg manufactures the proper 3 pt for a rear pto, which is what I have on my 982.

Mannnn, seeing those tillers are killing me!

Toyman,
The 1772 was my fathers tractor. He passed away 4 years ago. The Cub already has a 3 point and PTO.

I had just tilled our garden with a "body beating" 5 hp Craftsman. When changing the 1772's oil this spring it hit me.... duhhhh. get a tiller for this beast!

UPDATE:

As my 5 year old grandson says... YIPPIE SKIPPIE!!

Just bought a Befco 42" / 2,000 RPM tiller last night! About 3 hours away. Hoping to go pick it up later today.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
