Default Vertical to Horizontal ??

Hey Guys , I picked up a 20HP Magnum Vertical Shaft engine and i have read a few things about swapping this to Horizontal , but didn't quite understand a few things.

Has anyone done this that can shed some light on a few questions i have ???

This engine does have an oil filter mounted on the block.

I would like to speak to someone on the phone about this conversion.

Thanks ,

Darrell

Well,--
I done it on my M-18 Vertical
You have to use the horiz.closure plate, the block has to be drilled for a dipstick, the drain back passages for the rocker boxes (2) have to be plugged in the block or it will flood the boxes with excessive oil.
a passage has to be drilled for the oil pickup tube.
The crank has to be shortened and a new captive keyway has to be milled and a short bushing has to be made on the end of the crank for the PTO to fit on.
It can be done. prolly some things I forgot.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
